Custom Grinding and
Milling
This is to define our in-house capabilities
for grinding & milling.
In order to offer customers blocks of steel which are squared up and within
their allowances and tolerances, we have developed the following:
Blocks can be blanchard ground top & bottom and smooth milled on the edges & ends
to the customer's custom dimensions as follows:
I. Allowances to finish
Each customer may specify the allowances they require for finishing.
In the event the customer seeks our recommendation on allowances, the following
can be used as a guideline:

II. Tolerances
Blanchard grinding tolerances are +.005"/-.000".
Surface grinding tolerances are +/- .001".
Smooth milling tolerances are +.005"/-.000".
Note: the above tolerances are the closest tolerances we are publishing, however,
we will look at others on application.
III. Squareness and parallelism
Blocks will be square and parallel within .002/.003" depending
on the section size.
IV. Repeatibility
Dimensions of identical blocks will be within
.002" per
dimension.
V. Machine service dept. Size capabilities
Unless otherwise approved, size capabilities are as follows:
Thickness: 1” or greater weight: 10 pounds
or greater.
